Visualizing the Second Presidential Debate: Trump Knows and Clinton Thinks

The presidential debates between Trump and Clinton have been interesting, to say the least. So, I decided to take the transcript of the second debate and make a wordcloud of what each candidate said. They’re similar, but they have some clear differences.

One thing in particular these wordclouds highlight is that Trump seems to “know” things while Clinton seems to “think” things. Trump says “know” more than “think”, while Clinton does the opposite. Without going too far into the weeds, that distinction seems like it might be meaningful.
